Ulrich has 17 years of experience of working with conflict and communication in academia, innovation, public administration, large international projects and personal relationships.

He holds a masters in counselling science and social systems management specialising in mediation and conflict resolution. He's a certified conflict and bullying counsellor, a body intelligence practitioner and has trained in diplomacy and intercultural conflict transformation.

He has extensive knowledge of Buddhism and contemplative psychology, and is trained in Windhorse therapy.

He has written two books on the experience and management of conflict and confrontation informed by Buddhist thought and practice (details here).

His work aims to touch the freshness of direct experience as it unfolds in communication and conflict. So that conflict and confrontation can be embraced as an opportunity for personal growth and co-created cooperation.

Where am I now? Where do I come from? Where is it I am going?

Today I see myself as a mediator, conflict consultant, counsellor and coach and an expert on Buddhism on the way to becoming a body and energy worker. I used to be a program and network manager, surveyor, evaluator and project and communication manager in intercultural and international EU projects. Even earlier an astrophysicist, a fluid mechanic and a researching and teaching prospective scientist.

Since 2003 I have been involved with the ontological and epistemological embedding of physics, since 2005 with mediation and conflict resolution and since 2006 with the various varieties of Mahayana Buddhism: Japanese Buddhism (Zen, Karate, Iaido), Tibetan Buddhism (Shambhala, Dzogchen, Vajrayana) and body intelligence.

In 2010, my professional career took me from university sciences to a state-owned funding agency at the intersection of business, science and politics and subsequently as a spectator of technology development and innovation processes through almost all academic disciplines and into numerous economic sectors.

Since my first vision quest in 2009, I have devoted my free time to working with body, energy, consciousness, sound and imagination.

In doing so, I understand the discussion and processing of the tension between cooperation, competition, language confusion, perception, conflict and confrontation as the common thread that connects everything, which I have always followed.

Mine is a journey,
from competition to cooperation,
from conflict to negotiation,
from control to appreciation,
from science to spirituality,
from West to East,
from nature to mind,
from matter to energy,
from the outer to the inner,
from fucked-up to clear,
from crazy to sane,
from objectivity to subjectivity,
from rational to imaginal.

And always the pendulum swings back again.
It seems that growth unfolds in oscillation
between polarities it must ultimately come to fuse
as it forges the steel of soul.

It is this knowing that informs all of my work
as I find myself back in a territory
where the political and the spiritual must come to meet:
in the soul of men.
